Matt and I, along with our family and friends threw an engagement party {finally}! Held in the backyard of my parents home in Laguna Beach. We had a blast putting together an awesome little party to get our loved ones and wedding parties together.

It was a DIY party. We took care of everything from the food to the lighting canopy. It turned out great and I am so excited to be able to share it with you. I am currently compiling pictures but I wanted to share a sneak peak : )

Constructed my Matt and my father. I gave them some inspiration via {my pinterest} and they threw together the perfect design.

I had lots of fun getting ready for the holiday this year. I had planned a mellow get together, mainly with just my family and father in law. We had a fun day playing in the pool, making pretzels, and being together. I picked up an old Pepsi Crate from Pottery Barn and used it as the main setting for our buffet table. Combined with a couple handmade decorations, and a galvanized water bucket full of hydrangeas it was a simple and fun set up.

and of course some hand made fun from preschool : )

Find the crate {here}. Flowers {here}. Straws {here}.

For dinner the menu was . . .

  • Frozen grapes on skewers
  • Home-made Soft Pretzels
  • Watermelon, blueberries, and raspberries
  • Corn with butter, crushed black pepper, and cardamom
  • Garlic Turkey Burgers with Gruyere & Swiss Cheese
  • Trader Joe’s Chicken Dogs
  • Bacon Macaroni & Cheese
  • Cabbage Salad with Lemon & Apple Cider Dressing and Pomegranate Seeds

For Dessert we pulled out the backyard fire pit and made some yummy s’mores before heading out for the firework show.

This is a super simple DIY for a card. I threw this together in a couple of minutes for our friends daughter’s birthday.

All you need is colored paper, a piece of paper (I used a 4 by 6), glue, and a hole punch.

Then trace the letter or number in glue and sprinkle the confetti on top. You can easily move them around and clean it up with a hole punch.

*sorry about the poor quality of the photo, my iphone isn’t the best
